Real Stories, Real Change – Kiwanis India Success Stories

Anchal

Anchal refused to let her physical challenges define her. After receiving a prosthetic arm from the Kiwanis Center, she began intensive training, determined to adapt and excel. With daily effort, her teacher’s encouragement, and her family’s support, her confidence grew. She dreamed of standing on a national stage—not just to compete, but to inspire others from her village. As she left the Kiwanis Center after her final fitting, hope lit her eyes. The journey ahead was long, but she was ready to take the first step.

Avni

Avni, a 4-year-old girl with limb shortening, wins hearts at Kiwanis with her radiant smile. Her parents brought her from Roorkee, determined to give her a better future despite the challenges. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our ALC team, Avni now walks with the help of an extension prosthesis. Her parents, traveling from Kashipur for regular check-ups, show inspiring dedication. We wish Avni a bright and successful future!

M. Tamil Selvan

Mr. M. Tamil Selvan, a 49-year-old patient with hemiparesis, underwent brain surgery at Safdarjung Hospital. Following the surgery, he required physiotherapy and was brought to Kiwanis on May 8, 2025, in a wheelchair. A prompt assessment and a few dedicated physiotherapy sessions by the committed Kiwanis physiotherapy team brought remarkable progress—soon, he was able to walk with support. This improvement was made possible only through the sincere efforts and dedication of the entire Kiwanis physiotherapy team. The sessions are still ongoing, with strong hope and determination for a full recovery.

Abbas

Abbas, a 28-year-old patient with a history of ACL tear surgery, approached Kiwanis with complaints of stiffness and pain. Following an orthopaedic consultation with Dr. D. K. Balhara — a recent addition to the Kiwanis team — Abbas was advised to begin physiotherapy sessions. After undergoing treatment from the physiotherapy department at the Kiwanis Club, he experienced significant relief from pain. Abbas expressed his deep appreciation for the professionalism, dedication, and compassionate behaviour of the entire Kiwanis team. He extends a heartfelt salute to the Kiwanis management for their excellent care and support.

Devansh

After 10 years of continuous joint efforts by the Kiwanis medical team and the parents of Devansh Puri, a CP patient with quadriplegia (K2175), remarkable progress has been achieved. Devansh first came to Kiwanis in 2016 with severe spasticity. Through 100% dedication from everyone involved, he is now able to walk with support and has also developed speech abilities. His treatment is ongoing as part of a planned process.”

Anamaya

Impact of Pandemic and Lifestyle Factors on Child Development: Anamaya’s Journey Late pregnancy planning, limited social interaction during COVID-19, and increased screen time have contributed to a rise in developmental delays such as autism in the current generation. Anamaya, who came to the Kiwanis Centre in April 2025, showed signs of hyperactivity, no eye contact, lack of social smile or attention, and delayed speech. With continuous efforts through consultation, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, sensory integration, and ADL activities, Anamaya has made remarkable progress. We wish him a speedy and continued recovery.
